Asian Games 2023 Cricket: On Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed the names of 15 players who will be representing the Indian men’s cricket team in the Asian Games 2023.
Additionally, five substitute players were also named. The Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8.
The cricket matches in the Asian Games will follow the T20 format and will be played from September 28 to October 8. All the matches will take place at the Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field.
The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup is set to begin in India on October 5th. As a result, India will be sending a mostly secondary team to the Hangzhou Games, without key players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
But don’t worry! The team going to Hangzhou will still have some talented young players, many of whom have done exceptionally well in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
One of these talented youngsters is Ruturaj Gaikwad, a 26-year-old player who represents the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. He will be leading the Indian team at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Arshdeep Singh, a left-arm fast bowler, has been selected for the team. He took the most wickets for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2023.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a century in his first Test match against the West Indies, also made it to the team.
Rinku Singh, known for his impressive performances with the bat for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2023, has also been chosen to represent India for the first time. His powerful hitting caught the attention of many this season.
For the first time, India has announced teams for both men’s and women’s cricket competitions at the Asian Games.
Cricket has been a part of the Asian Games twice before, in Guangzhou 2010 and Incheon 2014. Bangladesh won the first edition, while Sri Lanka is the current title holder. Afghanistan finished as runners-up in both tournaments.
This will be the second time that the men’s cricket team participates in a multi-sport event.
The Indian men’s cricket team previously played in the 1998 Commonwealth Games held in Kuala Lumpur, but the matches were not considered international matches and were recorded as List A games.
