Colombo Strikers unveil jersey for Lanka Premier League 2023

The Colombo Strikers just showed off their new jersey for their first-ever season in the Lanka Premier League. The league will kick off on July 30th.

They revealed the jersey at a fancy event with famous Indian singer Guru Randhawa on Saturday. He sang for the players and management of the team before the owner, Sagar Khanna, unveiled the jersey.

Talking about the jersey, team owner Sagar Khanna said in a press release, “The Strikers’ teams around the world have always used a mix of pink and purple.

Pink stands for passion, and purple stands for freedom. The jersey will encourage our players to play with passion and they’ll have the freedom to play their natural game.”

Meanwhile, the Colombo Strikers’ Captain, Niroshan Dickwella, talked about starting their LPL 2023 journey against the Jaffna Kings on Sunday.

He said, “We’ve trained really hard before the tournament. Our whole team is working together well. The first game is crucial for any team, and it would be fantastic to begin on a positive note. We are excited for an awesome tournament.”

The Lanka Premier League 2023 will take place from 30th July to 20th August.

In the 2023 edition of the league, the matches will be played in two places: Colombo and Kandy. There will be five teams taking part in the season.

The Colombo Strikers will be led by Captain Niroshan Dickwella, Dambulla Aura will be captained by Kusal Mendis, Dasun Shanaka will lead the Galle Titans, Wanindu Hasaranga will captain B-Love Kandy, and the defending champions, Jaffna Kings, will be led by the experienced Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera.

In the fourth edition of the league, you’ll see some really famous international players like David Miller, Babar Azam, Chris Lynn, and Shakib Al Hasan.

They’ll be there to entertain the fans during the matches. Along with them, talented Sri Lankan players like Mahesh Theekshana, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and Angelo Mathews will also be showing their skills in the league.

It’s going to be a great mix of top players from around the world and Sri Lanka!

In the group stage of the tournament, the teams will play against each other twice, following a round-robin format. These matches will start from July 30.

After all the group games, the top four teams with the most points will move on to the playoffs, which will start on August 17. The exciting final match will take place on August 20, and just in case it rains on that day, August 21 will be kept as a backup day for the final.
