Elton John Bids Goodbye to Fans During Farewell Tour

Elton John performed what he says was his last show on his final tour ever. The famous musician took the stage in Stockholm, Sweden, marking the end of his touring career.

In a video posted on his Instagram, Elton John shared his thoughts about the tour coming to an end. He mentioned that it had been an incredible journey and that the final night was upon them.

The video also included a clip from a 2018 interview with Anderson Cooper, where Elton John announced his retirement from touring, saying it would be his last time traveling the world.

His “Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour” started in 2018 and was originally planned to end in 2021, but it got postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This tour was widely promoted as his final one after more than 50 years of performing.

According to Elton John’s Instagram video, the tour included over 300 shows and was attended by more than 6 million fans worldwide. As his last stop in the UK, the 76-year-old musician headlined the Glastonbury Festival.

In his 2018 interview with Cooper, Elton John explained that he decided to retire from touring to prioritize his family. He has two sons with his husband, David Furnish.

Elton John mentioned that he didn’t want to miss out on important moments in his children’s lives. However, he also mentioned that although he was done touring, he would continue creating new music.
