When is Father’s Day in India?
This year, something special is happening on the third Sunday. It’s not just an ordinary weekend. People all around the world will be celebrating Father’s Day on June 18. Not only in India, but also in countries like the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Argentina, France, Greece, Ireland, Mexico, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, and Venezuela, this day is marked with joy and appreciation for fathers and father figures.
Father’s Day 2023 History and Significance:
Father’s Day started in the United States when a woman named Sonora Smart Dodd, whose father was a veteran of the Civil War and raised six children as a single parent, wanted to honor fathers around the world. She chose her father’s birthday, June 5, 1982, to celebrate Father’s Day and show her appreciation. Sonora might have been inspired by Anna Jarvis, who created Mother’s Day. However, Sonora faced some difficulties along the way. Her church did not initially support her idea, so she had to gather support from other local churches. Eventually, the date was changed to the third Sunday of June. In 1910, Father’s Day was celebrated for the first time.
Father’s Day is a special day that means a lot to both fathers or father figures and their children. It’s a time when children show love and appreciation to their fathers, thanking them for being there and being important in our lives. We express gratitude for the ways they support us emotionally, mentally, and even financially.
Father’s Day Celebrations:
Children make Father’s Day special by doing nice things for their dads. They plan surprises like making gifts or cards with their own hands, buying presents that mean something, baking cakes, cooking their favorite meals, getting flowers and chocolates, going to their favorite restaurants, and spending good time together. This day is important because it helps kids build a closer relationship with their dads, especially since they usually have a stronger bond with their moms.
