Invincible season 2: When Amazon Prime Video released “Invincible,” it became such a hit that fans started asking for a second season even before the first one was over.
Fortunately, Prime Video paid attention. Thanks to the fans’ efforts, including petitions and hashtags, the show got the green light for a second season in April 2021, and there’s even a third season on the way!
Even before this unexpected news, the show’s creator, Robert Kirkman, had given hints that more episodes were a possibility, although getting the renewal was a bit of a challenge.
In an interview with Collider about how the show was made, the writer of The Walking Dead said, “The production schedule was quite challenging. We spent many years developing and working on this season. As we move into season two and beyond, things will get more streamlined.”
There’s a lot less planning and various tasks needed as we head into the second season. It’s even possible that some work has already been started on the second season. So, we’re in a good position to move forward if the show becomes successful.
Invincible Season 2 release date: When is it coming out?
Invincible Season 2 will premiere on November 3, 2023, on Prime Video.
In a previous interview with Collider, Kirkman mentioned, “The production schedule was a bit challenging. We spent several years developing and working on this season. As we look ahead to Season 2 and beyond, things will become more efficient.”
“There’s a lot less planning and various tasks needed as we go into our second season. It’s quite possible that some work for the second season has already been started. So, we’re well-prepared to move ahead if the show turns out to be a success.”
In a recent talk with Inverse, Kirkman talked about why Season 2 took so long. He explained, “Animation usually takes a while, and that’s a big part of it. The pandemic and quarantine hit at a bad time when we were finishing Season 1 and starting Season 2. It made things quite complex and caused some delays.”

Invincible season 2 plot: What will happen?
After that shocking finale, everything in Mark’s life has taken a permanent turn. His dad, Omni-Man, wrecked their family and a big chunk of Chicago. Even though he’s gone for the time being, Nolan will come back with the powerful Viltrumite race, determined to make Earth part of their alien empire.
In the finale, Cecil wants Mark to step into his father’s shoes as Earth’s protector. Even though Mark is unsure at first, he’ll likely come around to the idea. At the same time, he’s trying to graduate from high school, but it won’t be easy with all the new threats heading his way.

Besides the Viltrumite invasion, some of Invincible’s old foes are coming back. In the last part of season one, Titan forms new alliances, pink aliens take over Mars, and that white tiger guy is still in the picture. Cecil is also taking risks by getting a crazy scientist to make cyborg henchmen, probably to deal with Nolan when he comes back.
Looking ahead, it appears that Mark’s relationship with Amber is getting back on track, but it’s uncertain how long that will hold. We also hope William can reunite with his partner because things didn’t go smoothly for him and Rick in season one. To get more hints about the plot, keep a close eye on the final montage in season one.
Kirkman explained to AV Club, “Through the montage, I aimed to remind the audience of all the different storylines we had and to show them that everything in season one is significant.
Even the tiny details will have a major impact later on. I wanted to include even more of those little surprises, but it was starting to get a bit over the top.
This also suggests that Nolan won’t be around for a while, so Mark is without a mentor. However, all the challenges are still there. We’ll be seeing a very different Invincible going forward, who has to navigate things by himself.
This paves the way for season two and beyond to bring a fresh story, which is what you aim for in a show like this. Each season should have a unique vibe and a new journey for the main character.
