Kamal Haasan likely to contest from Coimbatore in DMK alliance

Chennai: Tamil Superstar and founder president of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), Kamal Haasan, might run for the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency in the 2024 general elections.

According to reliable sources in MNM, the DMK party is considering offering Kamal Haasan the Coimbatore seat because he performed very well in the 2021 Assembly polls.

He narrowly lost to BJP’s Vanathi Sreenivasan by just 1,728 votes.

Recently, Kamal Haasan inaugurated a state-level outreach campaign of MNM called ‘Makkalodu Maiam’ in the Coimbatore South Assembly constituency. MNM has a plan to connect with people in all 234 Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu.

The party leaders and members will meet with people at the ward and panchayat level to understand their difficulties, including the issues that were ignored by their elected representatives.

The MNM party will make its election plan by listening to what ordinary people want. They are getting opinions from the local communities to understand their needs better. Each ward secretary has a list of simple questions about basic things like facilities and services in their area. The party leaders want to know what people think so they can plan better.

The MNM party members in Coimbatore have asked the famous Tamil actor Kamal Haasan to run for the Coimbatore seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. They want him to represent their area and be their voice in the government.

Recently, Kamal Haasan gave a car as a gift to Sharmila, who works as a bus driver in Tamil Nadu. She lost her job because of a disagreement involving DMK leader Kanimozhi. Sharmila got into an argument with the bus conductor when he asked Kanimozhi for the ticket fare. Because of this issue, the bus owner fired Sharmila from her job.

Kamal Haasan heard about Sharmila’s situation and invited her to his home in Chennai. There, he gave her a new car that she can use for her livelihood. This kind gesture by Kamal Haasan has also been seen as a way for him to become more popular in the Coimbatore area.
