There have been recent incidents of violence in Manipur. A group of people set fire to a warehouse near Imphal Palace grounds and attempted to burn the houses of BJP leaders.
They also clashed with the security personnel present there. The Rapid Action Force (RAF) of Manipur tried to control the situation, using tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.
Two civilians were injured during the clashes between the mob and security forces in Imphal City.
Firing incidents were reported in Kwakta and Kangwai districts throughout the night. There was also an attempted robbery at the Iringabam police station, but no weapons were stolen.
To prevent further unrest, the Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Rapid Action Force conducted joint patrols in the state capital.
Around 1000 people in the mob tried to damage several buildings near Imphal Palace grounds, but the RAF intervened and used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the crowd.
Another group gathered near the BJP office in Sinjemai, but they were dispersed by an army squad without any injuries. Similarly, a mob attempted to attack the house of BJP’s Mahila Morcha president in Porampet, but the security forces managed to chase them away.
