Marvel Confirms New Scarlett Johansson Production Is Still In the Works

During the world premiere of The Marvels, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that Scarlett Johansson’s upcoming project for the MCU, which she is producing, is still in the works.

Even though Johansson’s character Black Widow met her end in Avengers: Endgame, she had already revealed her involvement in producing a mystery project for the MCU. The details are still under wraps.

Lately, there have been rumors suggesting that the MCU is in a bit of a creative scramble, with talks of possibly bringing back older characters like Iron Man and Black Widow. The Marvel universe always keeps us guessing!

Confirmation for Scarlett Johansson Project

In a chat with Entertainment Tonight (ET) during the Las Vegas premiere of The Marvels, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige officially confirmed that they are actively working on an upcoming MCU project produced by Scarlett Johansson.

When ET inquired about the rumors of Johansson and Robert Downey Jr. possibly making a comeback to the MCU, Feige clarified that it wasn’t part of recent discussions at the Marvel behind-the-scenes retreat. However, he did confirm, “We’re doing a project with Scarlett,” adding a bit of mystery by saying, “In terms of returning, we’ll have to see.” The Marvel universe loves to keep us on our toes!

What Could Johansson’s Mystery Project Be?

Speculating about Scarlett Johansson’s mystery project is a bit like navigating a puzzle with missing pieces—tricky indeed, given the scarce information available.

One could reasonably assume a connection to Black Widow, maybe exploring Yelena Belova or delving into a Red Guardian story. Intriguingly, those characters, along with the antagonist Taskmaster, are slated to appear in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie, considered a spiritual sequel to Black Widow.

However, considering the reported disagreements between Johansson and Marvel over the Disney+ release of Black Widow, she might opt for a storyline entirely separate from the Black Widow narrative.

For now, the mystery remains, and fans will have to stay tuned for any clues or announcements. In the meantime, Black Widow is available for streaming on Disney+.
