Season 2 of the Netflix show “One Piece” is coming soon. It’s based on the One Piece manga and anime, which are stories about Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew, the Straw Hat Pirates. What Will Happen in Season Two?
The first season of “One Piece” covered a lot of material, adapting approximately 100 chapters in just eight episodes. If the pace remains similar, Season Two will likely continue the story up to around Chapter 218.
In this next arc, Luffy and his crew will encounter an island of giants, search for a doctor to join their crew, and face off against a criminal organization of bounty hunters that threatens to disrupt the desert nation of Arabasta. This arc is considered one of the best in “One Piece” and sets the stage for the journey ahead, introducing a cute talking reindeer character named Chopper.
According to Variety, the scripts for a potential Season Two are already prepared, but production is currently stalled due to a strike. The producers have ambitious plans for the series, with hopes for up to 12 seasons.
Considering there are over 1,080 chapters in the manga (with only around 100 covered so far), there’s plenty of source material to draw from. The show’s creators have outlined plans for multiple seasons, which could continue for a long time.
Studio president Becky Clements mentioned that new episodes could be ready within a year to 18 months following the resolution of the strike. For Season 2, the start of filming is contingent on the resolution of the writer and actor’s strikes, and there is currently no set date for when these strikes will end. As a result, it could take 12 to 18 months from the start of filming to see Season 2 on Netflix, assuming a swift production process.
Considering these factors, it’s possible that “One Piece” fans may need to exercise patience, and it might not be until 2025 or later that Season 2 of the series becomes available for viewing.
