In a world where there are lots of superhero movies and shows, like those from Marvel and DC, Amazon has had success with its own series called The Boys. It’s based on comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
The first three seasons of The Boys I had a lot of crazy superhero stuff, including violence, swearing, and adult content.
Now, The Boys Season 4 is coming back. It will continue the story of the main group, led by Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher and Jack Quaid’s Hughie Campbell. They’ll be going up against Vought International and their group of famous superheroes called the Seven.

Will The Boys End with Season 4?
Amazon has confirmed that they are making Season 4 of The Boys. They decided to do this in June 2022 while Season 3 was still airing. They started filming Season 4 in August 2022 and finished in April 2023. However, there were some delays because of strikes involving Hollywood writers and actors, but one of those strikes has been resolved.
The show’s creator, Eric Kripke, shared on X (formerly Twitter) that he was working on the season finale of The Boys Season 4. He teased that it’s not the end of the whole series and said, “There will be more.”
“Cause you’re asking! We’ve been shooting since late August. I’m here to prep & direct the Season 4 finale. No, not the series finale, there will be more! Most importantly, S4 premieres… at some point in the future in our discernible reality.”
Although Amazon hasn’t officially renewed The Boys for a fifth season, it seems like the show’s creator Eric Kripke doesn’t want to end the series anytime soon. With the ongoing high interest in this universe, it’s highly likely that the show will be renewed.
The Boys Season 4 is anticipated to come out in 2024, and if the pattern of two-year gaps between seasons continues, we can expect Season 5 around 2026. But there will probably be more stories from this world to enjoy.
How The Boys Universe Will Continue Expanding?
The Boys introduced its first spin-off in March 2022, about a year and a half after Season 2 ended and just a few months before Season 3 started.
This spin-off was called The Boys Presents: Diabolical and it was an animated anthology series that told separate stories about different supes. It even showed a team-up between Homelander and Black Noir from when Black Noir first joined the Seven.
After the eight-episode animated series Diabolical, Season 3 came out. And recently, we got the first live-action spin-off set in The Boys World called Gen V. This introduced a whole new group of young superheroes.
With Season 5 confirmed and two spin-offs in the works, it’s clear that Amazon and Eric Kripke are not planning to end the Vought superhero story anytime soon.
It’s said that Amazon has started planning for Gen V Season 2, although it won’t happen until after The Boys Season 4. And Seth Rogen, who’s a producer, has even hinted that they’re working on a second season of Diabolical in an interview with Collider.
“Actually, they bought some scripts for the next season, so we’ve been writing them. We’re not 100% sure they will produce them, but if everything goes as planned, they will produce the scripts that we are writing right now.”
It looks like there are more seasons in store for both the main show and its two spin-offs, and there might even be more related shows in the future. Amazon seems to have several more years of content planned for fans of The Boys. So, there’s a lot more to look forward to in this superhero universe!
