This year’s match will be between the winners of the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League, Manchester City, and the champions of the 2022-23 UEFA Europa League, Sevilla FC.
This is Manchester City’s first time playing in the UEFA Super Cup, while it’s the seventh time for Sevilla FC. It’s interesting to note that Sevilla FC won this important title before in 2006.
Where will the UEFA Super Cup 2023 be played?
The match will take place at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus, Greece. Originally, it was planned to happen at the Ak Bars Arena in Kazan, Russia. But because of Russia’s actions in invading Ukraine in 2022, UEFA decided to change the location of the game to Greece.
What will be the 2023 UEFA Super Cup prize money?
Starting from 2020, UEFA made the prize money the same for all teams in the Super Cup. According to what we know, the winners of the UEFA Super Cup 2023 will get a huge amount of USD 5.5 million (or HKD 42 million). The team that comes in second place will receive about USD 4.1 million (or HKD 31 million).
